Biography

CHINAWUT SIRISOMPAN

Mr. Chinawut Sirisompan , (known as Master Woody ), was born in Bangkok, Thailand on the 13 June 1954, there were seven members of his family - his mother and father, three younger brothers an older sister and himself. Although he excelled at most of his studies, physical education interested him the most and especially the Martial Arts. He first started training in Muay Thai at about 7 years of age at the Soi Rume Jai Motor Company which belonged to his uncle, he took to the training quite naturally.
It was here that he had his firsthand experience with training and local fights, although his parents wished him to study academically rather than to take up Muaythai professionally, it did not stop him from his thirst for knowledge.
He went on to learn with many grandmasters wherever and whenever he could.
In 1974 he graduated from engineering college and went on to travel to England with his friend (Master Toddy).Where he started teaching and promoting muaythai.
In 1978 he became the co-founder of the first Association; B.A.T.M.A. British Association of Thai Martial Arts and B.T.B.C. The British Thai Boxing Council, they opened many clubs and went on organize many tournaments.
In 1985, Master Woody joined with the officers of the physical education department in Bangkok and set up I.A.M.T.F; International Amateur Muaythai Federation, and became the international coordinator.
In 1986 he helped co-ordinate the first Amateur Muaythai World Championships, with an astonishing amount of 23 countries taking part.
During the second world Champions, he was awarded the title ‘Grand Master’ by the Minister of Education. The subsequent world championships went from strength to strength with a record amount of 72 countries attending the 6th world championships in 2002 and more than 1200 athletes taking part. During this time he was invited to introduce
give seminars in Muaythai (boran) and Amateur Muaythai judge and referee courses in Lebanon first in Arab countries and all over the world.
In 2006 I.A.M.T.F. due to political reasons, the I.A.M.T.F. become W.M.F, (World Muaythai Federation). Master Woody was appointed as Technical Director and went on to help W.M.F. organize six more world championships. He as also helped the Amateur Muaythai Association of Thailand in his capacity as a judge during the first Asian Indoor Games held in Phuket. For the second Asian Indoor Games held in Macao, the first Martial Arts Games in Bangkok, the third Indoor Games in Vietnam and the latest South East Asia, (S.E.A. games) held in Laos he was a member of the Jury of Appeal.

He was together with the office of National Culture Commission who help to starting up the revise of Wai Kru Ceremony since then the Tourism Authority help promote World Wai Kru Muaythai every years By Organize many tournament and activities to help promote tourism.
In March 12-22 2015 , Kru Muaythai Association under his organizing promote 1st World Martial Arts Games at Sports Authority of Thailand , with 10 martial arts , Muaythai Boran , Tae Kwon Do, Karate, Kick Boxing , Penjak Silat , Kung Fu. Over 1200 participants to took parts.
